1976 huge gold (13.5 tr oz AGW) 15 tr oz medal of 900 fine gold. United States official mint Bicentennial medal. The first US mint medal struck in gold officially sanctioned for sale to the public. Sold by the mint for $4000. between Jan 1st and July 31st 1976. #63 impressed by the mint into the edge of the medal. Only 424 struck, and many have been melted. Original presentation box tattered. Nice proof with only a tiny edge test mark.
